GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES:

The July meeting was held on July 11 at the RoadHouse. The next meeting will be held on August 8th ... same bat channel same bat location. And as usual, you’re invited to come for dinner beginning anytime after 6:00!

Doug opened the meeting and introduced a guest and new member George Richards. George drives a 2006 Monterey Red Convertible.  Then Doug introduced our guest speaker, Jack McCartney who owns the Wooden Boat Shop - a restoration facility dedicated to the restoration of old wooden boats. For those who missed the meeting it was a fascinating discussion. If you’d like to learn more about Jack’s work, you can go to www.woodenboatshop.com.

Attending the May meeting were: Jon Hanas, Doug and Jessie Schwegman, Pat Bischoff, Gary Benke, Jay Deerwester, Gene Cochran, Gary Dirr, Jim Spaeth, Greg and Malinda Lloyd, Charles Griffin, Jim Mason, Mike Studder, Bill Zembodt, Don and Susie Turner, Steve Waldenmeyer, Chuck O’Bryant, Jack and Susan Buecker, Dorothy South and Kurt Meier, Jim Hackmann, Garry Roberts, Stan and Rita Bond, Fred Haas and someone whose last name begins with an S and who needs penmanship lessons!

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:  Doug deeded the floor to Kurt and dispensed with the President’s report this month.

TREASURER’S REPORT, MEMBERSHIP & WEBSITE NEWS: Jon reported that the club has a total of ninety-one paid members and has a balance of $4,381. (Sounds like we need a party).

SECRETARY’S REPORT: We’re not even going there (as usual).

NEW BUSINESS:  Kurt mentioned that we had a very successful Fourth of July parade with thirty-eight cars and about eight thousand pounds of candy (well it seemed like it!). Kurt’s daughter-in Law, who’s a local dentist, sent her heartfelt thanks. As for the car show, he announced that we’d met with Tom Gill on 7/25 and that Tom was fully on board with the show and was looking forward to our appearance. Kurt also mentioned that due to all the efforts of so many club volunteers all of the trophies are now sponsored! He then asked that all of us try to donate a door prize or an item that can be donated to the silent auction.  Once again, Kurt asked that we all make the effort to arrive at Tom Gill’s by 8:30 on 8/19.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

Kurt covered the upcoming events on our calendar:

8/6-Campbell County Rally and Pool Party. Organized by Mike Studer (please call Mike at   (859) 441-4102. Please plan to bring a dish.

9/13-Campbell Boy’s Home Corvette Run / Picnic. Organized by Stan and Rita Bond (we need ~30 cars. Rain date 9/20) Meet at the Road House at 5:30 PM … Don’t forget to save those car magazines! And we need lots of deserts for the after run picnic at the Fort. To confirm your attendance, or for questions call Rita and Stan at (859) 525-6479.

9/30-Toys for Tots at Florence Freedom ballpark. Organized by Tom Keene.

DENTED HUBCAP AWARD: Dorothy was given the award as the toughest member because she rode through the 4th parade sans top while the rest of us weenies covered up!

SPLIT-THE-POT:  Greg Lloyd (who donated it back to Wood Hudson) won the $46 pot.
