GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES:

The January meeting was held at the Competition Carting facilities in Lawrenceburg Indiana.

The February meeting will be held at Keen Parts, located at 6048 State Route 128, Cleves, Ohio (513) 353-3449.

President Doug Schwegman called the January meeting to order at 7:30 (or there about) amid the hubbub of the selection of track groups and the anticipation of the racer’s fitting themselves out with stylish “head condoms” and spiffy crash helmets. Despite that distraction, Doug was able to hold court over the following lst of attendees: Rod Russell, John Betsch, Steve Waldenmeyer, Bob Reineke, Wayne Alexander, Chuck O’Bryant, Jim & Pat Bischoff, Gary Benke, Jay Deerwester, Jon and Kathy Hanas, Doug Schwegman, Kurt Meier, Gary & Gail Clemens, Gary Roberts, Rhett Baird, Greg Lloyd, Bill Hengstebeck, Dave and Barbara Lohr, Steve and Jan Rosen, Jim and Miriam Spaeth, Charlie Goettsch, Tom Gauther, Bob Fincken, Eddie Ficken, Mark Works, Dallas and Dale Trimble and Richard Rolfes.

As racing began, Race Director, Steve Waldenmeyer’s Race Steward, Rick Deerwester spit the twenty-nine racers into three “heats and raced two qualification races of six minutes each. Coming out of that fracas were our top eight racers who finished the Feature twelve minute race as follows, 1st Bob Renieke, 2nd. Richard Rolfes, 3rd. Bob Fincken, 4th. Rhett Baird, 5th. Eddie Finken, 6th. Doug (wheeelnman) Schwegman, 7th, Greg (slasher) Lloyd, 8th. John Betsch. Of this illustrious group, Gregg Lloyd was the fast lap guy, and Richard “I wuz robbed” Rolfes, passed more folks that anyone else. All in all it was clean “racin” and no one was worse for the wear.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: As stated, Doug conducted a brief program before the anxious racers took to the track, and especially mentioned that we all give thought to the annual car show

TREASURER’S REPORT, MEMBERSHIP & WEBSITE NEWS: Jon’s treasurer’s report was limited to his update on the club’s current bank balance ($5,400) and that we now have eighty-four paid members. In addition to Jon’s sterling execution of the club’s bean counting necessities (and his web/communications duties), he did a great job of taking and posting a lot of great action shots from the evening’s race card.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: As usual Jay skipped the reading of the minutes, thereby saving everyone the pain of having to listen to last month’s newsletter being recapped!

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Kurt announced the March meeting will be hosted at a garage facility “to be named” at a later date…. Hmmm maybe Garagemahall, Zakira’s, or maybe that nasty looking one bay falling down affair that has the sign out front saying, “flats fixed good”.

ACTIVITIES:  No report was given.

NEW BUSINESS: Doug asked everyone attend the first car Show meeting to be held at the Roadhouse on January 31 at 7:30. In addition, he asked for general input over the next few months regarding the date that we ought to consider.  One more critical point...we need a new chairman for this year’s show. So cowboy up!

DENTED HUBCAP AWARD:  Son of a gun. We forgot! However next months will be likely awarded to a certain tall racer who seemed to get into a lot of trouble with the race officials.

SPLIT-THE-POT: Ditto the other stuff. We flat forgot!
