COMMITTEE REPORTS:

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Doug introduced Dr. Julia Carter and Mr. Larry Douglas of the Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory who expressed their thanks to the club’s members for the efforts that they made in hosting this year’s annual charity car show. Jon Hanas presented them with a check for two thousand dollars, bringing the grand total raised to $4,625.

TREASURER’S REPORT, MEMBERSHIP & WEBSITE NEWS: In keeping with his dual webmaster/financial wizard duties, Jon covered several topics. First he announced that pictures of all the new FTCC clothing were now available for viewing on the web site. He also added that throws emblazoned with the FTCC logo are available at $33.50. Although now technically clothing, we suppose they’d pass for clothing (ala serapes) in Mexico!

Second, he announced that we now have 101 members. That tally was the result of two resignations and two new members coming on board. As of the meeting 68 members have paid their 2006 dues resulting in our having a balance on hand of $4,846. Jon also reported that we have a series of Google (car related) links on our web site for which the club will receive a penny or two per click (isn’t technology great?).

SECRETARY’S REPORT: With everyone’s permission Jay skipped the reading of the minutes, thereby saving everyone the pain of having to listen to yesterday’s paper being re-read!

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Kurt pointed out that Tom Keen (who was with us) now stocks C5 and C6 parts so for those of us (like moi) who wear out the air dam on the front of their C5’s about once a month, that’s great news! Kurt also read a passage from the Campbell Lodge Boy’s Home Journal wherein a young man named Nathan was quoted as saying that his favorite memory of the Home, “Was the Corvette Club outing and being able to ride in a Corvette, which I’d never done before”. Obviously, that mention makes all the hard coordinating work of Stan and Rita Bond - and the time and efforts of the driver volunteers (and cooks) well worth all the effort.

ACTIVITIES:  Jon reported on a great Keeneland run which the Club hosted on Sunday October 16th.. A total of nine Corvettes made the run in sunny 65-degree weather. The group also pooled $13 to purchase a lottery ticket as they plotted to split up forty bazillion dollars. Burt alas, they had no better luck that they had at the track. Oh well, back to work on Monday.

Steve Waldenmeyer announced that the long awaited cart-racing meeting that we’ve talked about for months will finally be held. It will be the January meeting (1-10-06) at Competition Racing in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. We’ll organize a full race card with qualifying races and a final “Feature” event where we’ll crown the Club’s race champion! Jon will send out a voice mail blast with a reminder and directions to the track.

Jim Bischoff announced that Tom Gill Chevrolet has a 2006 Corvette with the new 6 speed, paddle shift, automatic transmission and that he was able to test drive it. He was VERY impressed with the performance of the new transmission and said that in lower gears it scared the "#@$%" out of him. So stop by Tom Gill's and ask to test drive the new C6 Automatic.

NEW BUSINESS: The slate selected by the nominating committee was presented, nominated, seconded and elected to the astonishment of the slate, (who ran unopposed). The officers are: President, Doug Schwegman, Vice President, Kurt Meier, Treasurer, Jon Hanas, and last and least, Secretary, Jay Deerwester.

DENTED HUBCAP AWARD: Believe it or not, there was no actual Corvette award to be made, so Jon Hanas won it due to his Kathy’s Honda Accord to Keeneland – having sold his C5 in advance of his taking delivery of a shiny new C6.

SPLIT-THE-POT: Jon forgot the split the pot paraphernalia so we went with out the best part of the darned meeting!
