GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING. The second meeting of the year was held on Tuesday February 8th, at Keen Parts, Cleves, Ohio.

Our next meting will be held at The Zakira’s Garage on 6219 Wooster Road (just past Frisch’s Mainliner) in Fairfax, Ohio on Tuesday March 8. Pizza and beverages will be served! If you get lost the number is (513) 272-2229.

In the absence of Club president, Doug Schwegman, Kurt Meier called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.  After welcoming everyone Kurt, read a heartfelt letter of resignation from Doug in which he “came out” announcing his recent acquisition of a vintage 1968 Torino!(See attached letter).  After a good laugh, Kurt explained that Doug had a business engagement which took precedence (after all, how else do you pay for a shiny new C6?).

Kurt welcomed Gary Roberts, who pilots a 2004 Magnetic red six speed as our newest member. Those who attended the meeting: Kurt Meier, Jay Deerwester, Jon Hanas, Don and Susie Turner, Wayne Alexander, Gene Cochran, Rick Deerwester, Nick Lucarelli (with a beautiful new silver C6 coupe), Tom Welch, Fred Macke, Jr., Stan Bond, Chuck O’Bryant, Greg Lloyd, Ed Pelley, Jeff Elliott, Bart Beers, Gary Benke, Jim Mason, Bill Hengstebeck, Bob “Amelia Erhart” Adams, Chip Schwegman, Jack Buecker and Bob Reineke.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Kurt opened the meeting by thanking Jon for the excellent efforts he’d made in organizing our web site as well as working to create effective communications within the club. Kurt then introduced Fred Mackie who outlined an idea for consideration that would involve the club’s purchase of a land parcel with the idea of erecting a building in which member cars could be stored as well as hosting meetings and mod day events.

TREASURTES REPORT & WEBSITE NEWS: Jon reported that we have a balance of $4,916.65. Last month’s expenditures totaled $271.00 and we took in $265 for a solid six dollar gain! Jon reported that we now have eighty-eight paid members. In news of the ciber world, Jon mentioned that he was planning to put all of our sponsors on the web page.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Jay reported that she had nothing to report as she’d already reported what she knew in the latest newsletter! She did however agree to send belated letters of thanks to all car show sponsors (it’s done). She also sent a get well card to Gary Dirr who underwent bypass surgery.

VICE PRESIDENT'S  REPORT:  That’d be redundant since Kurt ran the meeting!

ACTIVITIES: Doug Hillman reported on the January Road trip in which eleven couples (to include Gary Benke and Bob Wolf) had trekked off to the Detroit Auto Exposition in January where they’d taken part in the C6 ZO6 unveiling and that all had returned no worse for the wear.

He then outlined plans that the activities committee had in place through the middle of summer. Included in that schedule was a July trip planned to The Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, as well as several lesser road trips earlier in the summer.  Doug will have a calendar prepared for the next meeting with all of those events listed.

Rick Deerwester outlined the plans for the Autocross event for which thirty- two members and spouses have expressed initial interest. The date has been set as Saturday May28th.  An email has been sent to all members to finalize the attendance of those interested.

The April meeting will mark our first annual “Bring your Spouse or Significant Other” gathering. More on this later. In other April news, Bob Fincken is arraigning a presentation by Dave Davidson, Tire Discounters Corporate after market wheel specialist who will discuss after market wheel options for Corvettes.

NEW  BUSINESS: On august 27, the club will host the World’s Biggest Corvette Cook Out at Tom Gill Chevrolet as part of our tenth anniversary extravaganza. Beyond lots of burgers, we’ll host a car show targeted at 300 entrants, with Chevrolet factory involvement, as well as a predicted time autocross event, a poker run and perhaps even a crooked three card Monte game!

NOTE: ALL MEMBERS NEED TO MARK THIS DATE ON THEIR CALENDERS SINCE WE’LL NEED A GREAT TURNOUT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Gene Cochran mentioned that the owner of Florence’s Frontier Park expressed interest in hosting a Corvette Car show later this summer. Gene will meet with Doug Hillman and Jim Spaeth to see when that might be scheduled.

DENTED HUBCAP AWARD: None made since we still can’t find it!

SPLIT-THE-POT:  Split the port was won by Jack Buecker who absconded with $42 while Stan Bond and Susie Turner each won $25 Keen Parts gift certificates. Once again Jay won zip.
