COMMITTEE REPORTS:
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Doug introduced a returning member, Jim Bischoff, who recently purchased a 1999 Torch Red convertible from Tom Gill Chevrolet. Jim also has an Ermine White 1964 Convertible. Welcome Back Jim!
TREASURER’S REPORT: Steve Waldenmeyer reported- that our account balance as of today is $4,051.27. All new revenue has come from advertisers, new members and monthly "Split the Pot’s". There were no expenses last month.
SECRETARY’S REPORT & WEBSITE NEWS: Jon Hanas reported- Including Jim Bischoff and Joe Bruder (sorry Joe) we now have 76 members. He advised those present that he was going to make new nametags with the year, type, and color of their Corvette on them. That was the reason for the information forms in the last few newsletters. He did not want to put incorrect or outdated information on the new nametags. Unfortunately the response has been less than overwhelming. Please fill out the forms and return them to Jon. Jon apologized for the web site being down for the past week and explained that the company that was hosting the site was bought by another company but they had his old @home e-mail address so they could not contact him about converting the site to the new company’s server. He promised that the site would be available in two or three days. Jon explained that the new hosting company was charging more, $69.99 per year, but we were getting 200 Mg of space compared to 10 Mg and g 20 e-mail addresses so the board will sell "yourname@nkyvette.com" to members a $5.00 each. Please contact Jon if you are interested. Jon advised that newsletters were being sent to all members and if any member was not getting theirs to tell him. Joe Bruder said that he had not received one since October and Jon promised to look into it.
VICE PRESIDENT’S /ACTIVITIES REPORT:
VICE PRESIDENT’S /ACTIVITIES REPORT: Kurt Meier reviewed this summers big events:
This summer there will be two separate 50th Anniversary events. The 50th Anniversary Corvette Caravan sponsored by Chevrolet, in Nashville, TN on June 26 & 27 and the Birthday Celebration at The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY on June 28,29 & 30. There is registration information, for both events, on the web site, www.nkyvette.com. You need to register individually for each event.
Tom Keen gave an update on the Caravan. Darrell Bono informed Tom that they are expecting between 300 to 500 cars to come through Cincinnati on Wednesday, June 25, from Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York. Keen Parts & Performance Plus Corvettes are sponsoring a luncheon stop on June 25. The Caravan will then continue on I-275 to the Grand Victoria Casino for an overnight stop. Darrell Bono, from the Hamilton Club, told Tom that Grand Victoria is going to have 175 rooms reserved and the overflow are going to be accommodated at other hotels in the Lawrenceburg area. The numbers are growing daily. Tom Keen is encouraging Grand Victoria to turn this into an event, like a cruise-in or car show, so the public can bring street rods and other types of cars to the event. The next morning, Thursday June 26, the Caravan will cross the Ohio River and arrive at the Kentucky Speedway mid morning. Chevrolet has the track rented for the day and for a $10.00 donation, any member of the Caravan can take his car for one lap of the track. We are working withTom Gill Chevrolet to have a combined presence at the track since we are the local host club. Details on that later. The Caravan will leave the Speedway and continue to Nashville that afternoon. At this point, all local participants should join the Caravan.
Doug Schwegman reported that Mid-Ohio is having an event on June 20-22, the weekend before the Caravan, and Corvette is the feature car. This is a fun event for anyone who would like to run up there for the day. Another event this year is the Concours d’Elegance sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation . Corvette will be the featured car this year because of the 50th Anniversary and we are investigating ways to get the club and Tom Gill Chevrolet involved. This event is on Sunday, June 8. More details, as they become available.
