COMMITTEE REPORTS:
PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Doug Schwegman reported-
Doug introduced the new members and then turned the meeting over to Dorothy South.Dorothy presented a $1000.00 donation, from our Second Annual car show, to Dr. Julia Carter of the Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratory www.woodhudson.org.Dr. Carter thanked the Club for the generous donation and promised they would put it to good use.
Doug then asked Jon Hanas to introduce our special guests from Tom Gill Chevrolet. Jon proceeded to tell the membership how the affiliation with Tom Gill Chevrolet came about and he then introduced Mr. Gill www.tomgill.com(New site).Tom stressed that he felt that out joining forces was more of a partnership and emphasized how much he was involved in performance autos. His son is racing Bandolero Cars and Quarter Midgets. He is very excited about promoting the "Corvette Experience" and will be giving free Club and NCM memberships to everybody who purchases a Corvette from his dealership. He feels, as we do, that that will help new Corvette owners understand what Corvette ownership is all about. Tom outlined the plans for his new building, at I75 & KY 18 that will open in May of 2003, and the things that a new dealership facility would allow him to do that he is not able to do now. Tom talked about Rosco Bailey, his Corvette technician, and Chuck Mars who specializes in high quality C5 accessories and performance parts. Two cars modified by Chuck are on display and for sale at the dealership. They are planning to have a Supercharged Z06 with 650 hp ready in January. There is a Corvette Catalog that is being put together with the assistance of Mike Listermann, a new member, of MorningStar communications www.morningstarmedia.com. Tom talked about club discounts (See attached flyer for details). Tom introduced Chuck Mars to talk about his experience in the high end of the C5 performance market. He recounted his first meeting with Mr. Gill and how dedicated he is to expanding the "Corvette Experience" in Northern Kentucky. Chuck explained some of the current and purposed projects, including his association with the "C6" development and the Supercharged C5. He thanked all the members and is looking forward to a productive relationship with the Club. He then announced that plans had been finalized to install a dynamometer at the new dealership location. Warranty on modified cars was discussed and Mr. Gill said that would be handled on a case by case basis. Mr. Gill finished up his presentation by saying how much he was looking forward to working with the Club and what a good match it will be for both parties. Doug thanked them for coming and expressed the same feeling about what at productive partnership this was going to be.

NEW BUSINESS:
Election of Officers:
All current officers except Jeff Sluder agreed to return for another year. Steve Waldenmeyer was on the ballot as Treasurer and since all were running unopposed a motion was made by Jeff Dean and seconded that they be elected by unanimous consent. The new Board of Directors will take office January 1, 2003.
Raffle Tickets: Kurt advised the members that he has tickets for both of this years National Corvette Museum raffles. www.corvettemuseum.com/raffle
June, 2003, Corvette Caravan and Birthday Party: Updated from Kurt Meier’s e-mail of December 2, 2002.
There are two web-sites that are critical to both events.
They are: www.corvette50thanniversary.com and www.nationalcorvettecaravan.com.
Participants must register for both events if they are going to participate in both events. If a participant intends to only go to Nashville by himself (gender non-specific), then he needs only to register at the #1 site.
The National Corvette Caravan will be coming through the Tri-County area of Cincinnati and stopping for lunch at Performance Corvette on Wednesday June 25. From there, it will roll into Grand Victoria Casino for an evening of food and gaming.
On the morning of Thursday June 26, the Caravan will come across the Markland Dam, turn right (N/E) onto U.S. 42 and head in the direction of fabulous downtown Warsaw, KY. At the Courthouse, it will head up S.R. 35 and turn into the KY Speedway. Tours will begin at approximately. 10 am. Lunch will be served at approximately 11 am. And promptly at High Noon, each Corvette will make a parade lap around the KY Speedway for the minimal cost of $10 and head on down to Nashville. I've been appointed as N. KY. Coordinator of the Caravan, so this is the tentative plan.
I'm working with Mike Listerman, the media agent for Tom Gill Chevrolet, and have asked him to assess Gill's interest in sponsoring the luncheon.
I haven't heard back from Larry Martin, the KY Caravan chair, but he was anxious to get the job done when I initially talked with him.
I plan to stay in Nashville the evening of 6/26 (Thursday) and 6/27 (Friday) and head up to BG during the day on Sat. I'm returning to home Saturday evening. There's a Historic Motorama reunion at BG Sat. afternoon and I plan on attending.
The key to all of this is the registration-for both events. And none of it is exactly cheap.
Let me know if anyone has any questions.
Best, Kurt Meier 859.781.5700 or 4607
Concourse d’Elegance June 2003: Because of the 50th Anniversary, Corvette will be the feature car this year. The Board feels that we should have a prominent presence at the show along with Tom Gill Chevrolet. Kurt suggested the formation of committees to pursue these two events.
