Doug recapped Kurt’s participation in the Historic Motorama at the National Corvette Museum on June 28.
This was a caravan of one car from each of the 49 years of Corvettes that traveled from Detroit to St. Louis and on to Bowling Green to introduce the 2003 anniversary Corvette.
Several members of the club were on hand to welcome Kurt and participate in the festivities.
Kurt will be happy to share a more detailed account of this trip when he returns from Europe.
On the same weekend the C5-R Corvettes won the American La Mans race at Mid Ohio racetrack in Mansfield, Ohio.
As most clubs members who attended know, the 4th of July parade was a big success with at least 40 Vettes participating, including several cars from Eastgate. Sunday, July 7 was the annual Friendship Day sponsored by Keen Parts. This was a gathering of all the clubs in the area. There was a low speed auto cross at Lakota High School followed by a poker run to Armco Park in Lebanon where a cook out was held and prizes were awarded. Thanks to Tom Keen for purchasing the hamburgers mets and brats, supplied by Jim Gramer. FTCC had grill duty and did a fine job. Special thanks to Stan and Rita Bond for their extra efforts. FTCC took home second place for club member participation. Gary Benke, Jeff Sluder, and Stan Bond were awarded car show trophies.
NEW BUSINESS:
Clothing:
Doug announced that Dorothy South would be taking over the job of ordering the club clothing. Dorothy reported that she is switching suppliers to Oarsmen from Land’s End and that they still have our emblem disk on file. She has selected a good quality, white, 3 button knit golf type shirt at a cost of $18.00. Sizes available are S-XXXL. An order form was circulated and Dorothy will place the order promptly and they should be in within 2-3 weeks. She asked that members pay her promptly on delivery. In the future, a black, fleece lined zip up jacket will be available with the club logo on the back and your name on the front at a cost of $38.00.
Orders must be sent in lots of 24. When the initial order is placed, there will not be another order until 24 more are requested. Doug assured any member that had an order in with Land’s End that the club would take care of it.
Campbell Lodge:Stan Bond reported that 15 Corvettes were needed for this event on July 17.
After some discussion, it was decided those participating should meet at the Roadhouse by 5:30 and caravan to the Lodge. After a brief ride, the group will return to the Roadhouse for dinner, where it’s hoped a limited menu will be provided. After dinner, another short ride is planned and then the boys will be returned to the Lodge. Doug reminded the members that no pictures of the boys are permitted and asked the members to obey all/most traffic laws.
Metamora Run:Jim Gramer detailed the plans for the run on Sunday July 28. Those interested should meet at 40 N. Grand at Noon. We will leave around 12:30 to caravan east on I-275 to Lawrenceburg, IN, then out Route #1 to the Covered Bridge for a stop and then on to Metamora. We will there for about an hour and a half and then caravan to Cricket Ridge Golf Course for dinner. After dinner everybody will be on their own.

Registration cost is $10.00 and starts at Noon and closes at 2 PM. Trophies will be awarded at 5 PM. Sponsors names will be announced by the disk jockey throughout the day and signs will be displayed. Dorothy announced that she was having a meeting next Thursday at 7PM at her house.
