GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING June 11, 2002

President Doug Schwegman called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Doug asked all in attendance to introduce themselves and what year Corvette they owned. He then introduced the new members Mike Kessans, Nathen Swehla,Nick Lucarelli (Luke) & Butch Taulbee. Doug reviewed the clothing ordering procedure for the members, reminding them that they could get an order blank on the web site or call Dan Aseere. Doug and Jon reminded everybody if they were not getting enough club information from the Newsletter or the web site to advise them so corrections could be made. Doug reviewed past events such as the Garage MaHal tour, Bigg’s Car Show, Dave Noran’s Garage and the Concourse deElegance at Ault Park. He noted that next year the featured auto will be the Corvette in honor of the 50th Anniversary and that we should be getting in contact with the sponsors so that we can participate in next years show. He passed out cards for Ken King who owns Vette Essentials. They make custom interiors for the 1997 to 2002 Corvettes. They can be found on the web at http://www.vetteessentials.com/index.html.

TREASURER’S REPORT:
Jeff Sluder was on vacation so there was no Treasurer’s report but Doug assures us that we have plenty of money.

SECRETARY’S REPORT & WEBSITE NEWS

There was a new set of name tags for all members and if he missed any members please advise me and I will make them up for the next meeting. He invited any members interested in going to the Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville, Kentucky to meet at the I75 south bound rest stop in Florence, mile marker #177, at 10AM on Saturday the 15.

VICE PRESIDENT’S /ACTIVITIES REPORT
: Kurt Meier Reported-He reviewed the upcoming events including a possible run to Johnny Rocket’s on the Newport Levee if there was any interest. Other events he covered included the American Le Mans’ event at Mid-Ohio RaceTrack on June 30th, the July 4th Parade in Ft. Thomas, Friendship Day July 7th, Historic Motorama at the National Corvette Museum June 27th to June 30th.

NEW BUSINESS:
Kurt proposed new events: September run to Moyer’s Vineyard sponsored by Bill Seibert and an October 9th run Sponsored by Bill Hengstebeck, destination to be announced later, and a run to Metamora for the older cars sponsored by Jerry Sizemore, Jim Gramer and Larry Kidney on July 28th. Campbell Boy’s Lodge runs on July 17th sponsored by Stan Bond. 2nd Annual Ft. Thomas Car Show at the Roadhouse on September 21st. Dorothy outlined the plans for the show and asked for volunteers to assist with the preparations and operation of the show. She also asked for sponsors that members might suggest.
Kurt suggested that a chairperson be appointed for each generation of Corvettes to help promote their group of cars. Joe Bruder talked about the wealth of information that could be gained by forming these committees and gathering all the information about each generation together. Kurt mentioned Gary Benke’s Mod-Days and encouraged all members to utilize Gary’s garage and knowledge. Doug advise us that Frisch’s was no longer interested in doing the Wednesday night Cruise-In so he suggested that we do a weekly one at the Roadhouse. He had talked to the owner and he was all for it. After much discussion it was decided that we would do every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 starting on June 21st.

DENTED HUB CAP AWARD:
The Award was given to Bob Hood because of the accident that damaged his back.

SPLIT-THE-POT
:
There was no Split-the-Pot at this meeting. There will be a double Split-the-Pot next month.
