Kurt suggested that in view of the fact that there were so many new members this evening the current members introduce themselves with a brief description of themselves and their cars. During the introductions, Kurt took the opportunity to give a particular note of appreciation to the women members of the club for their participation and support. Kurt also pointed out that Dan Aseere’s roadster appeared in the 2002 National Corvette Museum calendar. VICE PRESIDENT’S /ACTIVITIES REPORT:Kurt Meier Reported-
Bus Trip:
The bus trip to GM/PrattMiller has been cancelled due to a conflict with GM scheduling.
Founders Day:
Founder’s Day will be in the latter part of April at which time the members are invited to a cook out at Kurt’s place in Warsaw after a run along the river. This is a tradition that the founders of the club, Doug and Kurt, have used to kick off the season.
Car Show:
Dorothy South is chairing the "Car Show" Committee again this year and announced that the show will be on Saturday September 21 and that a portion of the proceeds would be donated to the Wood Hudson Cancer Research Laboratories. She asked for volunteers to assist her with the show and that they would begin planning the show in April. Gary Benke, Jeff Sluder and Steve Seibert said they would be happy to assist. Dorothy just advised me, via e-mail, that Bob Hood and Sharon Garnett also volunteered to help. Thanks guys and gals.
Friendship Day:
A representative from our club is needed to attend the meetings to organize this year’s friendship day. Steve Waldmeyer was nominated and accepted this assignment.
Older Corvettes:
Kurt observed that the older Vettes are not as well represented as they should be and an effort should be made to encourage events that would attract members with C1, C2 & C3 Corvettes.
Frisch’s Cruise-In’s:
Doug reported, to Kurt, that the Frisch’s Cruise-In would be every Wednesday night but the rest of the details are still being negotiated.
Duntov Car:
Dick Yanko of the NCM informed Kurt that the project is on an indefinite hold pending an inventory of the necessary parts and procurement of the financing necessary to fund the project.
Club Clothing:
Dan Aseere asked that another member take over the Clothing Committee. Kurt parised Dan for the excellent job he did in organizing the clothing with Lands’End. An order form is available on the web site for those new or old members who wish to place and order. Pending a new chairman, please forward all orders to Dan at the address on the form.
Campbell Lodge:
Stan Bond asked if we were going to do this event again this year and Kurt quickly asked him to chair that event. This event involves the Campbell Lodge Boys Home in Campbell County. We take as many cars as possible to give each boy a ride and dinner at Frisch’s. This is a very fun and rewarding event.
Kentucky Speedway:
One member inquired about the Speedway’s "Buy & Drive" promotion. If you buy $40.00 at the gift shop you get to drive two laps of the track at 65 MPH. It was noted that last November more than a dozen members and non-members Corvettes participated and got six laps at 100 MPH+. One member announced that they thought the next date is April 20. Kurt asked Stan Bond to get more information from the Speedway.

NEW BUSINESS:

New Activities: Kurt suggested two possible activities for the club during the remainder of the winter. The first would be to have our next meeting at Zakira’s Garage, Wooster Road, Fairfax, OH. This garage is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of old English race cars, as well as being a full service garage. The response to this suggestion was enthusiastic, so Kurt said he would follow up on it.
Kurt also suggested that the club visit Dave Noran’ s car collection in Ft. Thomas as part of a future "Mod Day".
Daytona 500 Party:
Gary Benke extended an invitation to the entire membership to attend a Daytona 500 party at his house on Sunday, February 17.
Bloomington Gold:Dan Assere reported that the dates and location for this years event have been changed to June 13-16,2002 at Pheasant Run Resort, St. Charles, IL because of a conflict with the NCM Corvette Motorama and the 50 Anniversary Kick Off Weekend scheduled for the week of June 24-30.
Volunteers: Kurt urged all members to suggest ideas for new events and to volunteer to host or assist with currently planed events. Gary Benke will assist Kurt with activities this year so if you have a new event or want to help with an existing event you can contact Kurt or Gary.
Sponsors: Kurt encourage new and old members alike to become newsletter sponsors. For $50.00 a year their business card or any other form of advertisement would appear in each news letter and soon will be added to the web site.
E-mail addresses: Kurt urged all members that have e-mail to forward their address to Jon Hanas so that they could get the newsletter and other Club information in the quickest manner available. This would also reduce the cost of the newsletter.

DENTED HUB CAP AWARD:
Kurt explained the origin of the award and Dorothy nominated Steve Seibert for this months award because he came to last months meeting at the Roadhouse, could not find the meeting so he went home. The trophy will be presented to Steve as soon as we get it back from its perennial caretaker, Bob Adams.CORRECTION!My error. Bob does not have the "Dented Hub cap" Jeff Sluder does. I don't know how I could forget the "Great water pump and While I'm in there e-mails from last month. My apologies to both.

SPLIT THE POT:
Stan Bond split a $38.00 pot for a win of $19.00.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM
