COMMITTEE REPORTS:

TREASURER’S REPORT: Dorothy South – reported we do have money and she deposited money from the split-the-pot and paid for the mailing expenses.

DUES: Membership dues must be paid in September. Yearly membership dues are $30.00.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Stan Bond - I do appreciate everyone showing up for the Campbell Lodge Run. We had 19 cars and only 16 boys available for the run. It was just great to see that kind of a turnout and the boys really appreciated it. Frischs sent us a $10.00 gift certificate which will be part of the split-the-pot drawing this evening for any inconvenience we had when being served our meals at the restaurant that evening.

Eastgate Fun Day was a great day for our club. We had four members of our club who participated in this event and each brought home a trophy. Winners were Andy Miller, Gary Benke, Jim Gramer and Larry Kidwell. Congratulations guys!!!

Jeff Webster went to the Beechwood School Car show this spring and won the second place trophy. Congratulations to him also.

VICE PRESIDENT’S /ACTIVITIES REPORT: Kurt Meier

I just have one comment about the Campbell Lodge Run. No doubt about it, Bob Adams won the burnout contest.

My other comment is that we have tried to provide a nice calendar of activities for the club but some of us are not taking advantage of it. If you make an effort to get involved in some of these events, we are sure you will have a good time. We encourage everyone to participate. If you have a new idea for an event, don’t hesitate about getting involved and planning the event. We would be glad to help you any way we can.

Saturday, August 25 – The C5-R that has won the 24-hour race at Daytona and 24-hour LeMans race is racing at the Mid Ohio track. The race starts at 1:00 p m It takes about 31/2 hours to drive up there. The race lasts four hours and we could drive back that night.

Cliff Barber is in charge of this event. You can e-mail cliff at Clifford.barber@us.cgeyc.com for more information. Everyone will be meeting at Cracker Barrel at 4902 Fields Ertel Road (1-71 and exit 19) The caravan will be leaving at 7:30 am. Tickets can be ordered by calling 1-800-MID-OHIO or on the Mid-Ohio Track’s web site at http://www.midohio.com. All advanced tickets must be placed by Monday, August 20, by mail, phone or online. Tickets are $25.00 in advance or $28.00 at the gate. Please read the flyer included in this newsletter for more information on this great event.

Sunday, August 26 – Picnic at Webb’s place - If anyone is interested in coming down on Friday and spending the weekend they are more than welcome. On Sunday Jeff Webster will meet with the group at 40 Grand Avenue at 11:00 am and leave promptly at 11:30am to drive to the campsite. If you did not signed up at the meeting and plan to attend, please call Webb at 859-727-1309 by Thursday, August 23 so that he can order the meat for the cookout and let him know what kind of dish you plan to bring. Everyone who went last year had a great time. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle for a day and enjoy some peace and quiet in the country, this is the event you have been waiting for.

August 30 – September 2 – Annual National Corvette Museum Birthday Celebration - This year they are going to have collection of Corvettes owned by astronauts. This will be the first time these cars have ever been together. At least fourteen 1953-1955 cars will be there. In addition to that, the Museum has promised that they will have a Serial Number 003. It is the earliest Serial Number known on the face of the earth. If you attend, you will probably be able to get an idea of what is going on with the new C6.

September 11 - Regular monthly meeting at the Cold Springs Roadhouse

September 16 – 4th Annual Run to the Valley Vineyards – This is an event that Bill and Diane Seibert put together each year. They plan a nice run to the Valley Vineyards that has a nice open garden area where you can cook your own steak to order. There is a nice salad bar, great desserts and a bottle of wine is included in the price of the meal. Please don’t miss this event.

Fall Run – Bill Hengstebeck – More details at next month’s meeting.

Sunday, September 23 – Car Show at the Roadhouse on US 27. Registration is $10 and will begin at noon. All entrants will receive a dash plaque. Showtime is 1:00pm – 4:00pm. Trophies will be awarded

WEB SITE NEWS: Jon Hanas - Our website location has gone out of business. Jon is in the process of finding a new website location so our website will probably be down for about a week. Jon will let everyone know as soon as he gets a new website in the workings.

Membership Committee - Stan Bond has been doing a great job for the membership committee. We need every member to look for new people to join the club. We have a great group here and we want to encourage our members to invite other Corvette owners to join the club.

NEW BUSINESS – Doug Schwegman

A motion was made by Jeff Webster and seconded by Gary Benke to give the Board of Directors the authority to change the corporate document so that new officers can be proposed in October, elected in November and take office in January.

Bob Adams said that if anyone gets this month’s Corvette Fever magazine, there are two pictures of his car on page 94. One is a picture of him smoking his tires going down the drag strip and the other one is in the staging area.

DENTED HUB CAP AWARD – On the Fourth of July Jeff Sluder was driving his red 1976 corvette down 1-75 to 275 in the pouring rain when he drove into some very deep water and his car started sliding from side to side. By some miracle it did straightened up. There were concrete walls on both sides of his car. His son was in the car telling his dad how much fun it was to slide back and forth. Jeff, we are happy your car does not look like the dented hubcap you are in charge of this month.

Clothing – Dan Aseere - If anyone is interested in ordering a club shirt, please call him. Since we have to order six items at a time, we may want to place an order this fall for wind shirts, etc and get the cheaper price.

John Ullman told the members that he volunteers at a credit union in Edgewood Kentucky and if the club is interested in having a credit union membership, he would be happy to assist them in joining.

November 4 Kentucky Speedway Bill Hengstebeck let the club know that on November 4 at the Kentucky Speedway if you go into the gift shop and spend $40 you can drive 3 laps of the track at 85 plus mph in your car.

SPLIT-THE-POT -Picked by Jim Freiermuth and won by Bill Seibert $40.50. Congratulations

Frischs $10 gift certificate – won by Jim Freiermuth.
