GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF March 12, 2001

President Doug Schwegman called the meeting to order and thanked everyone for attending the meeting at the Restoration Station. Those in attendance were: Doug Schwegman, Kurt Meier, Dorothy South, Stan & Rita Bond, Jon Hanas, Larry Alford, Jim & Pat Bischoff, Dan Aseere, Chip Schwegman, Mike Studer, Jeff Sluder, Doc Schwegman, Jerry Sizemore and Larry Kidney.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Doug Schwegman

====================================================================

A special thanks to Larry Alford who volunteered to get a bus and drive us to the Restoration Station in Springboro, Ohio. It was greatly appreciated by those on the bus and all had a great time. However, two of our members were late getting there due to missing the bus in Fort Thomas.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Stan Bond -There was no corrections or additions to last month’s newsletter.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Dorothy South reported after making this month’s deposits and expenditures we broke about even.

NKYVETTE REPORT: Jon Hanas reported that he used the e-mail phone system for the bus trip and it worked pretty well. We did not get a 100 percent response and we need to refine it a little bit and try to get better responses. We are going to use the e-mail phone system for the meetings and upcoming events so that everyone is aware of what is going on.

Jon said he tried to move to a different server and it didn’t work out so we are back to the same server as before. If you have any problems getting on the website, e-mail him and he’ll try to keep track of it. He almost has the yearly calendar done that came out in the Newsletter and will be putting it on the website. He has also put the clothing on the website so you can see the clothing that will be available to order at the next meeting. If anyone has an e-mail address that Jon does not have, please let him know and he will make sure it gets on his list.

Jon also asked that everyone try to bring their Corvette (weather permitting) to the April meeting at the Roadhouse and he take individual pictures of each car with the banner in the background. That way we can have a consistent picture of everybody’s car. The easiest way to do this is before the meeting. If you do not bring your car to the April meeting, he will be available at the May meeting also to take pictures. The possibility of the group club picture is still being looked into.

A big thanks to Jon for all his hard work, time and effort he is putting into the different projects for our club. You are greatly appreciated.

VICE PRESIDENT’S /ACTIVITIES REPORT: Kurt Meier

=====================================================================

August 12 Northern Kentucky Speedway Event - Fred Macke sent me a telephone message that the Corvette club has been confirmed for pre-race activities for August 12 at the Kentucky Speedway. Fred has indicated that the track wants to have one car of every year represented and that is quite a task. A possibility of having other Corvette clubs involved in the event is being looked into. There are a lot questions that will have to be worked out in the coming months for this project. If anyone has any good ideas on how to make this a worthwhile event, please let us know or if anyone would like to be on the committee to plan this event, please contact any of the officers. Instead of having the Founder’s Day Run this year, we may merge it with the August Speedway deal event.

I think Fred Macke deserves special recognition for pulling this off! Only Freddie could get a bunch of corvettes on a nationally televised race. A major league track whose Sponsor is F.ix O.r Repair D.aily (couldn’t get myself to say the ‘F’ word.)

June 8,9,10 – Road racing at Mid Ohio. - Doug is working on this event

June 12 – Monthly meeting at the Roadhouse

Held at Bockman’s Chevrolet at I-64 at Hurstbourne Lane on the east end of Louisville. Chip Schwegman will be looking into this event. More news will be available at the April meeting.

June 22,23,24 Bloomington Gold - Dan Aseere said that he does not have any extra rooms available. If anyone is interested in going, you will have to find your own lodging. Dan has a booklet with the applications and information on rooms that might be available if you are interested. Kurt said that the nice part about the Bloomington show this year is that the Straight Axle Corvette Club’s National Convention is going to be in Bloomington at the same time as the Bloomington Gold show. There should be a lot more of the earlier cars for those interested in them.

A note of thanks to Kurt for putting together the last two road tours during the winter month. It is good to take these kinds of trips when we don’t really want to take our cars out; yet we can learn something about other cars.

CLOTHING COMMITTEE: – Dan & Diane Aseere and Jon & Cathy Hanas ordered some clothing from Lands End with the logo on them to see how they would look. They picked out a black wind shirt with a coordinating cap and a stone colored shirt to go along with it. You can see the clothing and order form on our website at NKYVETTE.com. If you plan to order the clothing at the next meeting, you must pay by check (no cash or credit cards allowed). If we send an order with less than six pieces, there will be an extra charge for each piece. Please pass the word around so we can plan to place an order at our April meeting.

Special Note: We wish to extend out deepest sympathy to Evelyn Wilson whose mother passed away during this past month.
