THANK YOU - Thanks to Bob Adams for redesigning the poles for the club’s banner to make it more easily assembled and easier to carry in the trunk of a C5. We owe a debt of thanks to Bob’s mother who made a beautiful carrying case for the flag.
SECRETARY’S REPORT - No report from Stan - Thanks to Kurt Meier for doing the newsletter for the month of January while he was on vacation.
VICE PRESIDENT/ACTIVITIES CHAIRMAN – Kurt Meier
Thanks to Doug for filling in for Kurt at the Activities meeting. The commitment that everyone showed in putting the robust calendar together is great. There are a lot of ideas that were put on the table that need to be polished up and that can be taken care of during the course of the year.
Anyone who is interested in volunteering to help put together some of the suggested activities needs to contact Kurt or Doug and sign up. It is a great opportunity to get involved and get to know the other Corvette owners in the club. With the wide range of activities, we hope there is something for everyone to get together and enjoy.
March Meeting – Restoration Station – Springboro, Ohio This is a pure Corvette Restoration Shop. We should be treated to Corvette restoration in various stages. It really is a treat to see a 1953 to mid 1980 cars being restored. These guys have a tremendous amount of imagination and it is amazing what they start with and then end up with. They do a lot of Bloomington Gold cars and the top notch judging cars. If you are into older Corvettes, it is very fascinating. It will take about 45 minutes to get up there. We would like to meet at 40 Grand Avenue and go up together. Directions are in the newsletter.
OLD BUSINESS – NCRS/FTCC Bus Tour
Everyone had a great time even though it was a wet and rainy day. Kurt had the coffee and donuts waiting for us when we arrived about 6:45 in the morning. Our driver, Bill, did a good job driving us to Bowling Green in the nasty weather. Several racing videos were shown on the way to help pass the time. We did a split the pot and Gary Benke was the lucky winner of $61.00. At the plant they had a short video showing us how they use the robotics to paint the cars. This was very interesting. The tour guides at the plant were informative and answered a lot of our questions as we walked through the plant. We had a delicious lunch at Mariah’s. In the afternoon we had a guided tour of the museum. From the money that was collected for the trip, both the FTCC and the NCRS was able to sponsor a chair in the museum’s theater.
Even though Kurt had called in our order for pizzas on the way home, the order was not ready when we got to the Pizza Hut in Louisville. So we just got out our snacks and made our way back to Newport. Thanks Kurt for all the hard work putting this trip together. Everyone had a great time.
JON HANAS – NKYVETTE WEBSITE: Is there is anyone who is not on the list for the website, not getting the updates, not getting the e-mails, please let him know and he will put you on his list. Jon is also going to set up a phone list for those who do not have e-mail. He will ask a few people with e-mail to call two people to let them know when something special is happening.
Jon would like to feature each member’s car on our website. He needs a picture of all the cars in the club so he can feature different cars at different times. He wants to keep this as an ongoing project to keep the website more interesting with different projects. If anyone has purchased a brick at the Corvette Museum let Jon know. When he goes down there he will put a picture of it and put it on the website. Thank you Jon for your dedication to the website.
Jon made a suggestion that we take a trip and have members volunteer to let other people drive their car. This is only available to our members. If there is enough interest, he will have people sign up as to which car they would like to drive and then make up the list. He will make out a route with five different stops and every time we stop a person would get in a different car. If there is enough interest, he will put this project together.
Dented Hub Cap Award – goes to Stan Bond turning his back on the club and going to Hawaii in the month of January and leaving Kurt with the job of doing the Newsletter.
SPLIT THE POT – Won by Dorothy South - $21.50 Congratulations.
