Vice President: Kurt Meier
Secretary: Stan Bond
Treasurer: Dorothy South
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF NOVEMBER 14, 2000
PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Doug Schwegman
Tonight we have a couple of guests. The first one is Greg Thatcher of Kerry Chevrolet. He is the service consultant so if you have a problem with your car Greg is the guy to get a hold of at Kerry. He also owns an 84 Corvette with 26,000 miles on it. Greg gave our group a lot of helpful hints on how to winterize our cars and was very helpful in answering any questions club members asked.
Kurt Meier remarked that we have had a couple members who have had real wonderful experiences with Kerry Chevrolet. They have been very loyal to us as club sponsors. For instance they paid for the banner that we use at our club functions. We value their relationship very much as a club.
The second guest was Mike Faulconer of Pro-Wax of Cincinnati. Mike sells commercial car care products to auto body type businesses throughout the Tristate area. Mike gave a nice talk on the products that he has available and answered questions from club members about waxing their cars.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
SECRETARY'S REPORT: Stan Bond
Minutes of the meeting were approved as read. If anyone has a computer and has an email address, please let us know so we can give it to Jon Hanas. If Jon makes any changes to the website, he will send a notice to everyone on the list so they can look at it.
VICE PRESIDENT'S /ACTIVITIES REPORT: Kurt Meier
I want to thank Jon Hanas for his work on the web page. We are working with Jon to get the activities on the web page. It is a lot or work for him to do that and I really appreciate it.
CLOTHING COMMITTEE: There will be very detailed and complete instructions in the November newsletter about ordering clothing. Catalogs are available to look at this evening. A clothing committee has been formed and headed up by Dan Aseere and a few other. I think they will be making a recommendation for a new club shirt soon.
A group of the members, headed up by Cliff Barber, has put together a dyno deal for this coming Saturday morning, November 18. They are going to meet in Newport at 7:30 am at Bob Evans for breakfast and then go up to Blue Ash for the activity.
UPCOMING EVENTS
CHRISTMAS PARTY: Dorothy South
The Fort Thomas Corvette Club is having its annual Christmas Party on Sunday, December 10 at the Cold Springs Roadhouse. The club will be furnishing hors'duerves and there will be a cash bar available. Dinner will be served beginning at 7:00. Cost is $27.00 per person. Reservations must be in by December 4. Make the check out the Ft. Thomas Corvette Club, c/o Dorothy South, PO Box 75383, Ft.Thomas, KY 41075.
We will be leaving the Cold Springs Roadhouse for the months of January, February and March We will be going to various garages for our meeting sites.
January - Antique Auto Shop - Erlanger, Kentucky -- Terry Kesselring is a member of our club runs a first-class restoration shop and I think it will be interesting for everyone.
February - Restoration Station - Springboro, Ohio - They have a 1953 and 1954 car in the garage side by side. It is pretty exciting to see. They also have the second air-conditioned car ever produced by Corvette in the garage.
February - I am a member of the Queen City National Corvette Restoration Society and they have asked me to chair a trip to Bowling Green which I have done in the past. This trip will be held on February 16, 2001. I have called the folks at the factory and they assured me that they will not be shutdown. We have been promised that we will be met by the racing engineer at the end of the factory tour. He will take us out near the testing track and tell us all about the new Z06 and what is in their plans for the racing season. Fifty dollars pays for the transportation. You buy your lunch and the admission to the museum.
March - Zakira's Garage - It is owned and operated by the gentleman who founded Lens Crafters. He is a vintage racer in the vintage circuit over in England and primarily lives over there. He sends his car back here to his garage about a block away from the Mainliner Frisch's and it is absolutely a fabulous garage to say the least.
April - We also have the Campbell County Vocational School car show in April. We have been asked to participate in that show. Every year we give a scholarship to them and I think it works out very well for them. This is one way we can help them to raise money for the students.
WEB SITE: Jon Hanas
Jon reported our website is up and running. If anyone has anything they want posted on the website, he will do his best to get it on as soon as possible. He is trying to change it and keep it interesting and putting new things on it every week. If you have any suggestions, pictures, ideas or comments, please let him know. He plans to put the 2001 calendar of events on the website as soon as possible. The address for the website is NKYVETTE.
PAST EVENTS
Doug Schwegman said he received a letter from the director of Campbell Lodge thanking us for taking the boys for a ride. Some of the boys wrote letters expressing their appreciation for the ride. One letter stated, "Thank you for the ride and the dinner Wednesday night. It was the first time I've ever been in a corvette. Hopefully, the first car I get will be a corvette not a Chevelle. I think the Corvette club does a lot of good things for the community in other areas. For someone to devote their own personal time and money for others to have a good time is caring, nice and considerate. I have been in Campbell Lodge for almost ten months. During the summer we go on outings everyday to the movies, the park, the zoo, etc. All that was fun, but the Corvette Club was the best outing I have ever been to. My driver was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He drove one of the yellow 2000 cars. It was the one with the yellow on the steering wheel. If it was up to me, he would be the president of the Club."
DENTED HUB CAP AWARD:
Given to people who face some kind of adversity. Bill Seibert
for reasons unknown has bought his second Ford. He deserves all the sympathy we can muster for him.
